Second Emmy for El Ranchito
Our VFX Supervisor Rafael Solórzano and our Executive Producer Gonzalo Escudero have been recognized with an Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode for their work on the second episode of the Apple TV+ series Five Days at Memorial, titled Day Two. This is the second Emmy for El Ranchito, which already won one in 2017 for Beyond the Wall, the sixth episode of the seventh season of the HBO Max series Game of Thrones. El Ranchito was also nominated for an Emmy this year for the second episode of the second season of the Netflix series Shadow and Bone, titled Rusalye, and has been nominated two other times for the second season of the Apple TV+ series See and for the first season of the Netflix series Lost in Space.
Five Days at Memorial is based on Sheri Fink's Pulitzer Prize-winning Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital and chronicles the impact of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans in 2005 through the aftermath in a hospital. This year's Emmys celebrated their 75th edition in January with a nearly four-month delay due to the writers' strike. This is the second time the Emmys have been postponed since 2001, when they were held in November due to the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York.
We would like to congratulate Rafael Solórzano, Gonzalo Escudero, our VFX Producer Deneb Sabater and the entire El Ranchito team for this Emmy. And also to our VFX Supervisor Angel Rico and the entire Shadow and Bone team for their nomination.
