VFX Process

Leave the World Behind has undoubtedly been the most ambitious project the FX Department has ever faced. That’s why we assigned our top talent to make it happen. David Gacituaga, Head of FX.

TECHNICAL CHALLENGE

Large-scale simulations, some reaching up to 1000 frames, pushed both our render infrastructure and data processing capacity to the limit. It was a challenge we successfully overcame.

FX INNOVATION

One of the most complex challenges was to simulate sand behavior in different states — dry and wet — as well as the transition between them. We developed an advanced setup using particles, maps, velocities, and specific properties. We overcame this thanks to the knowledge and dedication of one of our most outstanding artists.

TEAM

The entire ELR team gave their very best. Each member contributed key details, and together — through collective effort — we achieved this magnificent final result. For many of us, this project was our very own “The Last Dance”.

STARS

Not everyone has the privilege of collaborating on projects featuring film stars of the caliber of Ethan Hawke and Julia Roberts. This only elevates the quality standards even further.
